The Muskegon Museum of Art

The Muskegon Museum of Art in Muskegon, Michigan was founded in 1912 as the Hackley Art Gallery through a bequest from Charles Hackly, a prominent lumber baron who invested heavily in Muskegon’s post-lumber boom recovery.  Renamed the Muskegon Museum of Art in 1980 following a major expansion, has since developed into one of the Midwest’s most prestigious art institutions.
